JRJ’s Occupational Therapists are trained to help their clients manage limitations caused by illness or injury and the psychological or emotional difficulties which may result. The Occupational Therapist’s goal is to assist each individual to be as independent as possible with performing normal activities of daily living, maximising personal productivity, wellbeing and quality of life.
The services JRJ provide include:
ADL assessments
As a result of an injury and individuals ability to look after themselves, their home can be impacted. An ADL assessment is used to assess the injured individual and what they may require to enable them to function on a day to day basis. The assessment is conducted in the clients home to identify any limitations in personal care, household tasks and recreational and social restrictions apparent due to the injury. Recommendations can include equipment prescription, self care in the home, home maintenance and domestic services specifically prescribed to increase their functional abilities and day to day management.
Home modification assessments
As a result of an injury or as we age and our physical skills deteriorate and an individual can confront obstacles in their own homes that restrict their independence and impact on their safety. JRJ can conduct home assessments and prescribe equipment and modifications to make the home an accessible place for the resident. What may seem a huge problem can often be simply rectified!
Attendant care programs and education for carers
JRJ Therapists have experience in assessing and developing attendant care needs to ensure that both the needs of the disabled person and the carer are being met and provided in a dignified and safe manner. We have assisted Care Agencies to develop training programs educating their carers of the manual handling requirements both specifically related to their clients needs and also in a general training context.
